Join me on September 5–6, 2026, for the S//xual Health Alliance’s S//xology Outsiders: Advanced Clinical Perspectives & Hidden Worlds of Desire—a live, online professional training exploring the identities, relationships, practices, and desires that many clinicians and helping professionals receive little or no formal education about. I will be teaching about the intersections between consensual nonmonogamies/polyamory and BDSM on Sunday September 6 from 1 to 4 pm Pacific time.
Kink, BDSM, consensual non-monogamy, power exchange, compersion, ABDL, and other alternative relationship structures are part of many clients’ lived experiences. Yet these topics are still frequently misunderstood, stigmatized, or approached through assumptions that can interfere with affirming and effective care.
Throughout this two-day event, we’ll explore evidence-informed and s//x-positive frameworks for better understanding these communities and experiences. Presentations will examine the intersections of CNM and BDSM, the psychology and practice of compersion, kink-affirming approaches to ABDL, and broader questions around consent, communication, power, identity, pleasure, and relationship diversity.
This training is especially valuable for professionals who want to move beyond conventional relationship models and pathologizing assumptions—and develop the cultural competency, clinical nuance, and curiosity needed to work more effectively with clients whose desires and relationships exist outside the lines.
