Provider Sign-On in Support of
Non-Discrimination Protections in Healthcare
The administration is moving forward with plans to roll back the Healthcare Rights Law, which provides non-discrimination protections in healthcare for transgender and LGB individuals, women, people with disabilities and patients who need communication assistance in their native languages.
As you know, nondiscrimination protections are foundational to ensuring healthcare for all, especially for marginalized communities. GLMA and the National Center for Transgender Equality are asking healthcare providers of all disciplines to sign their names to a letter urging HHS Secretary Alex Azar, HHS Civil Rights Director Roger Severino and other federal officials to suspend issuing the final rule until at least 90 days after the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency declared by Secretary Azar.
See the text of the letter and sign-on here . The initial deadline to sign-on is Tuesday, 5/27.
It’s unconscionable for HHS to put up barriers to care during a pandemic. Please join this letter, and share with your colleagues!
