Polyamory and Death
Published by Dr. Elisabeth "Eli" Sheff, PhD, CASA, CSE
One of a handful of global experts on polyamory and the foremost international expert on children in polyamorous families, Dr. Elisabeth Sheff has studied gender and families of sexual minorities for the last 25 years. Sheff’s television appearances include CNN, and the National Geographic, and she has given more than 100 radio, podcast, print, and television interviews with sources from CNN, the New York Times, and Vogue to National Public Radio, the Sunday London Times, the Boston Globe, and Newsweek. By emphasizing research methodology and findings in her discussions, Dr. Sheff presents the kind of public intellectualism that encourages audience members to think critically regarding gender, sexualities, and families. while his grief for Pam, the girlfriend who died, was still immense, #polyamory helped him deal with it … how a poly family can mitigate grief similar to how extended families have done in the past
As long as poly people remain closeted because of the rejection from “normal” people, our laws and processes of dealing with birth & death issues will be lagging. Your study of polyamory, I think, contributes to a greater understanding of a lifestyle that shouldn’t be stigmatized (but is).
