In addition to the first three Science Track panels in the other post, I have one more Skeptic Track presentation I would like to mention. On Monday 9/2 I present Kids in Poly Families: Debunking Legal Myths at 10 am in the Skeptic track wing of the Hilton.
Hope to see you there! If you come, please say hi.
Elisabeth Sheff will be giving three presentations on the Science Track for DragonCon August 30 to September 1 2013. Her first presentation, The Polyamorists Next Door, is on Friday August 30 at 8:30pm and reviews the findings of her 15 year study on polyamorous families with children.
Then, teaming up with Dr. Rachel Kieran (http://www.rkieranpsyd.com/) the dynamic duo educate professionals and laypeople alike about kinksters, or people who participate in BDSM/sadomasochism (kinky sex). Saturday August 31 at 10pm Dr. Kieran takes the lead in their presentation “What Professionals Need to know about Kinky People: Understanding people who do BDSM/Sadomasochism” in which Kieran explains the changes in the most recent version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM5). Sunday night at 11:30 Dr. Sheff takes the lead with “Kinky Sex Makes the World Go Round” in the large ballroom, contrasting paraphilias (based on normalcy or lack there of) with variation (a range of practices distinguished by consent rather than normalcy).
